According to the National Association of Realtors 2011 Profile of International Home Buying Activity, residential international sales were up, equaling $82 Billion for the year ending March 2011 over $66 Billion in 2010. There are four states that seem to garner the international buyer: Florida, with 31% of transactions, California with 12%, Texas at 9% and Arizona rounding out at 6%; although, at least every state had at least 1 transaction involving an international buyer. The report indicates that recent buyers came from 70 different countries, up from 53 in 2010, and that they focus on three major factors when interested in purchasing US property: 1) Its proximity to airports 2) climate and 3) nearness to their home country. Florida appears to be attractive to Europeans, Canadians and South Americans.
